Fallen by Lauren Kate is a fantasy book about fallen angels. Finally, something different from the vampire books. :) But this is a really interesting read about a girl, Luce and her troubles and new life in her new reform school, Sword and Cross. Luce had gotten in trouble in her past, she was involved in a fire that killed a boy but wasn't able to explain anything about what happened, the cops and doctors and a courtroom full of people didn't know what to do with that, so they sent her to Sword and Cross. The book starts off with her first day at the school, and brings you back periodically to learn about her past. There is a lot about friendships, and love, a lot of love in this book. It's about how to deal when you think you're crazy. Because Luce sees these "shadows" that have followed her around since she was a kid and she believes that is what killed the boy in the fire. Readers will be intrigued as she tries to hide her "shadow" secret and her so very interesting love life at her new school. I thought this was an excellent book, and if you enjoy fantasy stories this will be perfect to get into. The second book comes out next September, and I can't wait!
