Cooked

This book was about Jeff Henderson who started out as a good kid, did good in school and wasn't involved in any bad things. When his mom split up with his dad and moved him and his sister to a pretty run down neighborhood in San Diego, things started to go bad for him. When Jeff was sixteen he started wanting to hang out with the guys in his neighborhood. He met his neighbor 'T', who dresses in the newest gear and had the cars and women. Jeff looked up to him and started hanging with 'T' and his crew. Jeff asked him how he gets all his stuff and 'T' brought him to one of his stash spots and showed him some crack. Jeff wanted to start making money and having the cars and women like 'T' did. He started selling a little weed. Then eventually he moved to selling crack. He was making money and pick up a lot at a time. Jeff had the girls and the cars now but he wasn't keeping a very low profile. People were on to him and he knew it. He makes it about another 6 months and then he and a friend that he was going to hook up were crossing a border and the friend got in trouble and was arrested. He lay low and got rid of everything. Jeff gets arrested and goes through a trial and gets 19 1/2 years. He serves his time at a few different prisons. He was offered to sell some people out to get his time reduced to half. He did it. While in prison he got jobs in the kitchen anytime he could. He developed a love for cooking. He is now out and works for a very good restaurant.
